City Council Rejects Secondary Suites

On June 29, 2015, Calgary City Council defeated a proposed bylaw that would have allowed more than 35,000 properties in Wards 7, 8, 9 and 11 to legally build basement suites.  In the report to council, it was noted that "...a mandatory licence would not bring existing illegal suites into compliance, would be difficult and costly to enforce, and would overlap with a secondary suite registry."   You can read the results of the vote here to know how your City Councillor voted.
